Last night, despite not having the usual companionship of my boyfriend, I decided to light up a stogie. Not just any stogie - a Heaven Angel Spice, (cinnamon-flavored) shorty.
Using a 100% Dominican tobacco, and Sumatra wrappers, I found this slightly-flavored, slightly-smoky stogie to be a little brassier than the other flavored cigars I generally turn to. Heaven Cigars come in twelve different flavors, and seeing as how I haven't tried a cinnamon stick yet, I opted for the 20-count shorty box. Naturally, I don't know everything there is to know about cigars, but I'm guessing that the Sumatra wrapper contributed to the smokiness of this stogie. I tend to enjoy those with Ecuadorian Connecticut wrappers, as they are generally more mellow and a bit sweeter...but using a Sumatran wrapper makes sense, as it pairs well with the cinnamon spice.
Surprisingly, I was delighted. Relaxing with a bit of Etta James, a glass of Honey Jack, and a light fire outside, was just what I needed. This cigar, with its smokiness, felt more sophisticated than the usual candy sticks I smoke...and I'm glad I've finally made that leap. Now I feel like I can contend in this man's world, as the playing field has been leveled.
